Microsoft Business Network Builds on Familiar Products

Microsoft Business Network is a new product that helps small and mid-sized businesses streamline the way they connect with customers, vendors, and other business partners. It also integrates easily with familiar products such as Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 and Microsoft Business Solutions–Great Plains®.

Smaller trading companies can use Microsoft Business Network to turn Microsoft Outlook® 2003 and Microsoft Excel 2003 into mini business applications. And mid-size trading partners can use Microsoft Business Network to extend the functionality of Microsoft Great Plains, turning it into a fully integrated interface for exchanging business documentation with a global network of trading partners.

Microsoft Outlook 2003

Microsoft Outlook 2003 already helps you communicate with the world, manage your schedule, and organize your tasks. With the addition of Microsoft Business Network, Outlook becomes a mini business application. Now your e-mail inbox will collect all your business documentation, price lists, purchase orders, invoices, and more. And you can use the usual Outlook functions, such as group, sort, and search, to keep your business documentation organized.

Microsoft Excel 2003

Microsoft Business Network comes complete with two out-of-the-box business process templates: Orders-to-Cash and Supplier Visibility. When you view these templates from Outlook 2003, they automatically open in Microsoft Excel 2003. You can use Excel to view, modify, or create these business documents. Need to see an entire transaction history? Use Excel to see document histories and get the big picture.

Microsoft Great Plains

Microsoft Business Network turns Microsoft Great Plains into a fully integrated interface for exchanging business documentation with a global network of trading partners. It extends Microsoft Great Plains by fully integrating with customer and inventory master records as well as sales order processing. Both solutions running in tandem can help you cut down on paperwork, eliminate data reentry, and increase the speed of business transactions across companies.
